IMIG 2006, the 8th International Conference of the International Mesothelioma Interest Group, will take place in Chicago, Illinois, USA from October 19-22, 2006. Hosted by The University of Chicago, this biennial meeting of mesothelioma researchers and clinicians from around the world will be held in the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, located along the Chicago River near Lake Michigan and the heart of Chicago's famed shopping district.

The meeting will feature an impressive array of invited international speakers representing the most creative minds at the forefront of mesothelioma research. Scientific sessions will showcase oral and poster presentations by investigators who are leading advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and biologic understanding of mesothelioma. Topics will span clinical and basic sciences, including epidemiology, pathogenesis, genomics, apoptosis, biomarkers, imaging, pathology, surgery, multimodality therapy, chemotherapy, supportive care, and novel therapies.

Social events will provide an opportunity to experience the culture and grandeur of the "City of Big Shoulders," including a welcome reception at The Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center (Chicago's third tallest building), dinner at the Field Museum of Natural History featuring the exhibit "King Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of Pharaohs," and a Gala Reception at the International Museum of Surgical Science.

IMIG 2006 will be held in conjunction with the Third Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma, sponsored by the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF), which will focus on educating the patient community.
